SUPPORT LOCALS FRIDAY : 29 JANUARY 2016

Keep-It-Local-Logo

Friday 29 January 2016 will be declared a Support Locals Friday. The concept being for Restaurants to thank Locals for the many challenges they faced during Peak Seasons as well as ongoing support throughout the Year by offering extensive discounts on selected foods on their menus. We are hoping for this to become an annual event for the last Friday of January of every year, based on the Black Friday concept.

Restaurants we spoke to wishes to use this initiative to thank local residents for their patience during the busy seasons where often problems occur such as overbooking, delays, shortage of stock etc.

Extensive marketing of these restaurants will take place during the week leading up to this Day, encouraging residents to support their favourite venues in the spirit of this campaign. Customers will then be requested to post their photographs showing their support for their favourite restaurant to be published online as well as in the print media.

The initiative was tested amongst restaurateurs in Jeffreys Bay by Gerhardt Fouche and received overwhelming support from everyone that was spoken to. “It is a win-win situation that also allows restaurants to do something special for their regular customers and take advantage of the marketing attached to the Project” says Gerhardt, local entrepreneur and businessman who is also the current holder of the Kouga Business Chamber ABSA Floating Trophy for Kouga Project of the Year.
